Privacy policy
The short version: we collect what we need to plan your trip, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it anytime. The longer, legally-sound version is below.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what HappyNova Travel Pty Ltd ("happynova", "we", "us") collects when you use happynova.info or book with us, why we collect it, who sees it and what rights you have over it. It's written to comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect
Details you give us directly
When you enquire, book or call us, we collect the information needed to plan and deliver your trip:
- Contact details — name, email, phone number
- Travel preferences — dates, destinations, group size, budget range, dietary or accessibility needs you share
- Booking details — names of all travellers as they appear on IDs (required by hotels and tour operators)
- Payment confirmations — we never store full card numbers; payments run through a PCI-compliant provider
Details collected automatically
Like most sites, we log basic technical data — pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and browser type — via cookies and similar tools. The full rundown is in our cookie policy.
The honest bit
We don't collect anything we can't use to make your trip better. No "just in case" data harvesting, no buying marketing lists, no creeper stuff.
How we use your information
Everything we collect goes toward a short, boring list of legitimate purposes:
- Planning and booking your trip — quotes, itineraries, reservations with suppliers
- Talking to you — replying to enquiries, sending booking confirmations and pre-departure info
- On-trip support — re-bookings, changes and emergencies while you travel
- Legal obligations — tax records, supplier reporting, age verification for 18+ services
- Improving the site — anonymised stats about which pages and trips people care about
We only send marketing emails if you've asked for them, and every one has a working unsubscribe link. We're travellers too — spam is a crime against inboxes.
Security & retention
How we protect it
Booking records live in access-controlled systems with individual logins — no shared "office password" spreadsheet nonsense. Our site runs over HTTPS and payment data never touches our own servers.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't book: deleted after 12 months
- Booking records: kept 7 years for Australian tax and consumer law, then anonymised
- Marketing consents: until you unsubscribe
- Site analytics: aggregated and de-identified after 26 months
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act you can, at any time and free of charge:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete it (unless we're legally required to keep records, e.g. tax invoices)
- Withdraw marketing consent without affecting your bookings
Email happynova@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request" and we'll action it within 30 days — usually much faster. If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
