Cookie policy
What cookies we use on happynova.info, what they actually do, and how to switch off the ones you don't want. Spoiler: there aren't many, and none of them follow you around the internet.
What cookies even are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They do mundane jobs like remembering your cookie-banner choice so you don't see it 400 times, or telling us (anonymously) which trip pages people linger on. We use a handful of them — this page lists every category, honestly.

Essential cookies — always on
These keep the site working and can't be switched off, because without them things genuinely break:
- cookie_consent — remembers whether you accepted or chose essentials-only, so the banner doesn't nag you every visit (kept 12 months)
- session tokens — keep forms and your browsing session stable between pages (deleted when you close the browser)
- Security tokens — protect forms from spoofed submissions
No dark patterns
"Essential" means essential — not "essential to our marketing funnel". If a cookie isn't needed to run the site, it goes in the optional pile below.
Analytics cookies — optional
With your consent, we measure which pages and trips people actually use. This is how we learned that nobody reads past the third FAQ — so we stopped at five.
- Pages visited, time on page, approximate region (city level)
- Referrer — which site or search brought you here
- Device type and browser — helps us fix layout bugs
Analytics data is aggregated and de-identified — we see "someone in Brisbane loves the Tasmania page", not "Jane from Brisbane". Decline these and nothing on the site stops working.
Your choices on this site
The banner on our home page gives you two buttons — here's exactly what each does:
- Accept all — essential + analytics cookies on. Helps us improve the site.
- Essentials only — just the cookies that keep things running. Zero analytics.
Changed your mind later? Clear the happynova_cookies_ok entry in your browser's local storage (or clear site data entirely) and the banner will show again on your next visit to the home page.
One click, either way
Rejecting is as easy as accepting — same size buttons, no guilt-trip wording, no "are you suuure?" follow-up. That's the law anyway, but also just manners.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies site-wide or per-site:
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy & security → Cookies
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Block all cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced tracking protection
Blocking essential cookies may stop the banner preference from sticking and can break form sessions — fair warning.
Third-party services
A few external services load when you browse — each under its own privacy policy:
- Google Maps embed (contacts page) — Google may set its own cookies when the map loads
- CDN assets — fonts and libraries served by jsDelivr, cdnjs and Google Fonts
We don't run advertising pixels, social trackers or retargeting cookies. The full picture on data handling is in the privacy policy.

That's all the cookies we've got
Now for the good kind — pick a trip and we'll bring actual Tim Tams to the planning session.
